Shawn Bartlemay

Wood Turning

Shawn joins us for the 2012 Spring AOMP show.
She and Liz were neighbors at another show, and Liz fell in love with Shawn and with her amazing work.  We are very excited to have her join the AOMP family of artists!

Shawn says:

My name is Shawn Rene Bartlemay, and I am very excited for my first opportunity to show my craft at Art Over Macleay Park.

My craft is wood turning and my tool is the lathe.

The medium of my choice is wood.
It can be a piece of Hormigo Negro from South America, Tiboti from Africa,Tulipwood from Brazil, or Koa from our 50th state, Hawaii.
The choices of wood that I have are as many as the number of locations you can find on a world map.

I got my start in working with wood with free hand carving, a craft I still love to practice and teach.
Adding the lathe to my practice has allowed me to expand the on the types woods that I work with,
and the pieces of art that I create that can be used in your everyday life.

Whether it be my kaleidoscopes, cheese knives, barbecue tools, ice cream scoops, rolling pins, etc.,
I take you around the world in wood, and add a little more pizazz to your everyday life.
